📰 This Week’s News
Gnosis Zodiac
Gnosis Guild dropped a big announcement this week for anyone building DAOs with the release of their Zodiac “expansion pack for DAOs.” Read their announcement:
The motivation behind Zodiac is to equip DAOs with the tools needed at different stages of their progressive decentralization: from the early days of a “squad” with a multi-sig Gnosis Safe and a group chat, to later on when there is a full-fledged community and decentralization of core technical systems.
As one might expect from a team like Gnosis Guild, Zodiac is open-source and anyone can make a contribution to the code base.
$DAOMSTR Crowd Sale
Julia Lipton, a VC at Awesome People Ventures, sent out a tweet a few months ago that set off the development of a crowdsourced database of DAO tools and practices.
Now, she’s formalizing this ad-hoc project via a Mirror crowd-raise to create a website dedicated to helping people set up DAOs.
The crowdfund has already more than doubled its 15 ETH fundraising goal. Proceeds will go towards developing the website, paying contributors, etc. The linked post above also hints at possible future plans for the $DAOMSTR project to become a DAO itself.
Forefront’s Treasury Diversification
Forefront is an exciting social token project that describes itself as the “port of entry to social clubs and digital cities.”
Via their own token $FF, Forefront has catalyzed a group of builders that want to bridge Web2 and Web3.
This week, they announced that they raised $2.1M via a community driven treasury diversification round led by 1kx Network and joined by Scalar Capital, Venture DAO, Divergence Ventures, and Own Fund.
Forefront is the latest DAO to bring on VCs as strategic partners, joining Index Coop and others in what is seemingly becoming a trend to watch.
For more on how Forefront thinks about DAOs and digital native organizations, check out their Mirror post from earlier this week.
